removing the old bars

Hi,sorry to ask such an elementary question, but here goes.I'm trying to take off the old bars on my cb750 and put on clubmans, everything is wired internally. What is the easiest way to back the wires out? Should I undo everything from under the headlight or just take them off of the controls? I'm trying to use the stock switches for now because everythings on a budget.Thanks.

Disconnecting at the headlight is usually easiest. Cut off as much as the black wrap from the wires as possible, and try to pull 1 or 2 wires at a time.

Thanks I kinda thought thats how I'd have to do it,I was just hoping not to have to deal with that spaghetti under the headlight.

Its probably the "wrong way" to do it, and perhaps I should have shown more patience, but I just cut the fuckers off at the controls and pulled the lot of em through. When I reaalised that I would have to put em through the bars I bought and thus would have to muck about cutting holes in my fancy new* bars I put the grinder to the housing for the switches to allow the wires to come out.

yeah taking the time to label is always helpful... just be careful pulling them out. i did it all at once instead of one at a time but i never stopped spraying WD-40 down the bars until it was out. that way i could keep it taped. not the safest but it worked for me. then just ran the wires along the clubmans underneath and 4 zip ties. looks a lot cleaner than it sounds.

Disconnect at the headlight and label each side of the wire. For the right hand controls I did letter and the left I did numbers. Makes it easier to wire back up and you don't have to pull out the schematic. Its not too much effort to cut some holes and run the wiring back through the bars either. Just mimic the holes on the factory bars onto your clipons or clubmans. I've done it twice now and it hasn't been too bad. That's just my opinion though.
