Rhode Island, size doesn't matter.

Been Around the Block
Anybody kicking around in Rhode Island? I will provided the beer, bourbon and heated basement, if anyone would like to help me wrench on my little CB360 this winter. Just moved here from Youngstown, Ohio (where dreams go to die) with my girl, and I have to say, I freaking love New-England, except for Massachusetts, I commit 10 felonies just crossing the border with my competition rifle.

So, southern MA/RI cats, let me know, lord knows I need a motorcycle mentor.

Being new to the whole two-wheeled game, I'm kinda playing it by ear, I spent my 18-24 age bracket in the Army, pouring money into Triumph and MG roadsters, but have wanted to build a Cafe racer since long before I got into cars.

So, Cafe it out, extremely limited budget, so it'll be in the beginning just getting it mechanically sound and polishing the hell out of every bit, fab up a seat, hammer the tank, rattlebomb everything, and generally clean it up to be sharp, but cheap, and as old-school as possible. That's why I love Cafe, you take something cheap, do cheap things to it, and have a personalized piece of awesome when you're all done.

Knowing me though, once I get the bug, I'll be doing all kinds of go-fast mods though, Mikunis are at the top of the reliability list.

Right now i'm limited on everything but time and ambition. The Army retired me out after I got hit in Iraq in '06. So living off my retirement stipend does not live much room for going balls-to-the-wall, but I plan on making a clean little Cafe by the end of it.

Oh, have I mentioned it's going to be a daily rider? Yea, my lunacy knows no bounds.

So, like I said, no doubt in my mind I'll need help from some cats who know what they are doing.

If you love ol TR's you need to talk to my mate Dennis.. Hes got like 4 of them including a RACER.. and a Roadster... the low ones where you can put your cigarette out on the highway at 60mph just by putting your arm down..

Yeah.. should be a hoot... since your retired.. once were done with the club house you can hang there if you want..and wrench anytime..

Cheers

Yea, saw you guys were doing another build day on the 23rd, I'm handy at swinging a hammer, wither or not I nail anything depends on how much I've had to drink. If ya need a pair of hands and a Sixer, I'm your man. What town is the clubhouse in?

Also, yea mate, love me some TR's, more of a Spitfire fan all in all, owned one of those, an MG Midget, and an MGB... My Midget was just like that, 3.5in ground clearance, Racing knock-off wheels, and if you let your arm dangle out the window you scrape your knuckles... Gotta love it.

Sure come on down... but we got enough cases of pabst left over from the re-union for all thedrinks one could need.. But if you wanna come hang out and swing a hammer come on mate...

Im in Cromwell CT.. just shoot me a PM and Ill get ya my address..

Ohh and if your looking for a fun activity to do this weekend you can shoot over to the Hot Rod Fallout in South Glastonbury CT this saturday.. a bunch of the mates and I are heading over there... round 5 ish and one members band is playing... Always a hoot!

Just was by the Avery with my old lady, said hello to JR and he was happy to hear from you, what a great joint. A few other Cafe types were hanging out, hoping to get some leads on my 360 since the other seller has been pretty much incommunicado.

If anyone sees a CB360 come up in their area for a good price, let me know.

Hey man, I'm in Cumberland right now (right next to you.) but just bought a house with a garage in Johnston which is about 10 minutes further south down 295. I'm definitely down to give you a hand with whatever. You have a running bike right now?

No, was supposed to have one a few days back, but the seller has been iffy, so no dice. In all honesty, was trading him for $2000 worth of AR-15 and Ammo/Accessories, he seemed all about it, but not so much any longer.

The offer of a hand will be taken once I get a bike, I assure you. Let me know if you want to grab a beer this weekend.

There are two Caffs for sale right down the street from me.. a Kawi 360ish and a Honda CB somthin.. I think a 450...... didnt see the price.. but man caffs are springing up everywhere.. its like there a virus right now..LOL

Glad you got in to see JR... we gotta get out there soon !

Either of them Caffs lookin' in the $800 range? I'm about to blow a freaking gasket, who knew trying to pay someone for a motorcycle would be so hard.

Every freaking junked out CB I look at is a "VERY RARE CAFE RACER $2000 FIRM" that doesn't run, hasn't run in years, and looks like it's been sitting under a birds nest for a decade.

Seriously, one guy told me he has $2300 in a bike he was asking $1500 for, and when I asked him where that $2300 was in the bike, he just kinda stared at me. I could build one out of sheet metal for $2300, Jesus.

Found a CB360 that needs some TLC... In Caribou, MA... But the price is really, really right. Any of you Rockers have a pickup/trailer and some free time?

Hell, once I broadened my search, found a few more in my price range, all around 90min away, lets hope one pans out.

I'm near Tiverton, RI.

My gun club is in Tiverton.

Anyway, just got confirm to go look at a bike up in NH today, CB360, has a CL360 engine in it because the CB engine locked up. Comes with both engines, so figure at the least I can strip the CB engine for parts, at the most fix it and either sell it or put it back in the bike.

Either way, bike looks clean, heres hoping!
