Rolling My Rear Fender

Ok guys, time to work on the cosmetics a bit more...

I want to shorten my rear fender up a bit... there are two methods I can think of. One is cutting the fender shorter, Two is simply sliding it up more (however this would require custom mounting). I was going to just try and cut the fender shorter but I want it to look factory. Is there any way/method I could use to get that rolled edge look to the fender after cutting it? I also wanted to knock a few small dents out of it... hammer? baseball bat? Need your thoughts and opinions!

Thanks!

I'd roll it forward, cutting material from the unseen end and then drill new holes through the sides to mount to the stock mounts.

Remind us what model bike this is on.

So your saying drill out the rivets that attach the little mounting bracketss? I didn't think about that. I could always use bolts to put them back on or borrow a rivet gun.

Edit: I'm gonna go with this and just use something to fill in the space between the frame and fender, like some sort of metal collar.

I'll post pics when I'm done.

You could do what this guy did. Just cut a bit out of the middle and then join the two pieces back together with a bit of welding and grinding.

Still have to mount it more securely but BAM! Looks good. I'm gonna custom fab a mounting bracket for whatever tail light I end up going with. All I did was cut the back portion of the fender (the part you can't see) and cut away the original side mounts.
