Is it possible to run a 72 Yamaha AT2 with no battery. I Believe it does have the magneto so im thinking it is possible but i'm not sure how to wire it to and how to eliminate the unnecessary components. Is there a good wiring diagram out there that shows this?

Supposing that the generator does have a permanent magnet AND that the power draw is not parasitic at idle speeds, then all you need to do it remove the battery and replace it with a capacitor. 15,000µF and 20V or better should do it.

Would this work?

The one you linked was 20 uF. The spec Sonrier suggested was 15,000 uF.

Are those numbers the same?

A 5 second ebay search for "15000 and capacitor" gave this:
