RX125 1979 plaything

Have you done any work on the engines at all? I want to put a better pipe on just not sure what to use or really how to go about it.

Haven't pulled the engine down yet, planning on running a same era yz 125 pipe and having bored for the next size up.

Picked up a neat 1980 rx last week too, pretty straight and never been outside of dubbo.

Will make this thread more detailed in the coming months, moving back to the city and having the bike shed nearby is going to be loads easier!

Ok, long delays with christmas, a new job, moving and general laziness.

Only progress is tank stripping of an alternate tank and a touch of paint, as well as sorting the last bits and pieces to get the blue bike registered.

Oh, I made a seat too. Old leather jacket, beer, scissors and skills I do not possess. Not the best ever made, but it will serve me until I decide on the style I'm after.

All going well it'll be on the road in the next fortnight. The plan is to get the blue registered, strip it down to a bike I'd want to ride, use the parts to get the original, stripped bike registered, then have two little coffee run/brewery run/general fun bikes to dart around Sydney on.

Hows the little rx125 coming along mate?

Mines slowed up a bit but i did get myself a rx100 race engine for it which when dyno'd made about 26hp so im a bit excited to get it to the track now!

How the bikes coming along? Let me know if you ever want to sell one or any parts like the wheels. Kinda like the idea of having a race version and a road bike for going to work lol.

So long between posts!

The tank is currently in the hands of a master painter, going to be amazing, and the bike is in complete strip mode. Frame is in the process of being de-tabbed and stripped to bare metal, then it's copping a clear coat. Seat pan is going to be aluminium with a pad for comfort, and debating between clip ons or old mx bars.

All in all it's taken an age, but it's in the right direction now.

Hey mate - how are the little bikes coming along? My race one runs now - just need the get the jetting right.
