Save a life, learn CPR.

I opened this thread as a reminder to get my self recertified...but quickly forgot..

Now see THEY'RE somebody I'd give CPR to.

Most any other time I'd just use "New York CPR".
You know, when you nudge them with you foot and yell "Breathe, or you gonna freakin Die!" :p

co-worker's son is learning to become an EMT. He had to spend a day at a hospital ER, and had to administer CPR to a patient. Patient did not make it, he was rather bummed.

I have lost people while administering CPR... total bummer... One of those things that you never quite get past. I am sure Kiley can relate, as any first response tech will tell you, shit can get heavy real fast. That being said CPR really does save lives and why not do it in a way people will remember... bravo supersexycpr.com!

All kidding aside... while I'm not officially CPR certified yet, I have been through an accident management course specifically targeted for motorcycle accidents/injuries. Basically, they teach Motorcyclists how to treat other Motorcyclists who have been involved in a collision. Since people generally ride in groups of two or more, another rider is almost always the first person on the scene when a rider goes down. And seconds count when waiting for Rescue/EMT personnel to arrive.

They teach the jaw thrust method for administering CPR without moving the neck, as most motorcycle crash related injuries will involve some sort of neck trauma. They also teach when and how to remove a helmet at the scene, how to safely move an injured/unconscious person from the roadway should it become necesary, as well as how to treat a variety of wounds/unjuries likely sustained in a motorcycle collision.
Check out the website, and if they're in your area, take the course. It's cheap and the information (especially to the layman) is invaluable. I highly reccomend it ;)

And I agree with dakine, CPR saves lives, and anything that gets people off their butts and motivated to learn it, is a good thing.
