Seat cowl

DT250 project in the works!
Okay... I need help. I am finishing up on my seat and i now need to make a cowl and i have no clue what to do. buying one and making a fiberglass one are both out of the pic due to expenses. Any help?

Add foam to form a cowl and then upholster the entire thing? That's the only other option I know of.

Yes, yes and yes? Those have all been done in various forms on here. Rear half of gas tank is only a good way if you have a welder, plastic...well I'm not sure on that one, other than using another bike's stock tail section, and bending a metal one, yup I did that route, but again used a welder. What are you working with, and what kind of constraints are you under? That may help with your decision.

my pops is allergic to fiberglass. so thats out the window.

How much can you invest? Fiberglass materials are fairly inexpensive.
I got a 75 dt 250, if thats what you mean what im working with. and a couple feet of aluminum sheeting

Here is a pic of the tank I just cut. I am hoping to finish it up this weekend.

the best part in my opinion is that it will totally match the body lines and shape using an extra stock tank. The fiberglass ones just don't do it for me. Plus, metal is so much more fun to work with.

duct tape a collander to the back of your seat. it'll suck the next time you want to make spaghetti, but cool is cool

Well, who said it had to be round...

Take the sign, cut out the shape you want it to be on the sides. Then cut a piece for the top and tack it together towards the front and work your way down both sides. You could get a decent slope without forming the metal.

I hope you get what I am saying. It made sense in my head.

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not "rat" that bike out. Its in pretty nice shape man. Dont purposly make it look like shit. "Rat" bikes are for lazy, unoriginal assholes. It only takes a few hours of work to lay a little paint down, clean up messy wiring, or wipe a bike down. And really, when you half ass a bike it just shows like you dont care. Really man, take the time to do it right. Only use components that work together both mechanically and visually. This bike is a representation of YOU. Dont look like an asshole.

Does your logic apply to rat rods also?

Not trying to start an argument with you just trying to understand your point of view. Aren't these bikes our own blank canvases?

Most of the bikes we work on are fugly in stock trim.
