Serious F*%#ing dilemma...

Mike you will love it man! to this day one of my fav bikes! have to be honest i knwo the frame rocks and all but if you can build that same type of frame for this one over the winter your going to be money! i think you made out on this deal no question! stoked for you bud!

I'm in a similar situation. I have a clean, well running cb350. I have been offered a cb550 and recently an BMW r60. But the r60 was hammered. I am
Always afraid I'll regret the trade.

Thanks guys. This will be my workhorse Joe. I have a couple other big projects to keep me busy so anything that gets done to this will be simple bolt on stuff. The guy has a MAC 4-1 setup for it I may be able to get on the cheap. I know Ill need to lower the bike a bit for my short ass, but thats simple shit. I have some superbike bars at the garage for it as well as new grips, bar end mirrors, etc... Again though, this has to remain a reliable rider until winter at least.

Good move Von.If things fall thru, the Yammi is still available. I have a motorcycle trailer and a tow pig so I could meetcha somewhere and u could ride and return at your convenience.Plus I am about halfway thru a resto on a real nice Kawasaki KZ750 four, so I gotcha back.Lol.bj

Naw just an old fart living on borrowed time that takes seriously the "Better to give than receive" proverb.bj

Awesome, Mike. I'm stoked for you. Summer's too short to let it pass by without a ride.

sweet man! best of luck with it....i love the 750s (motor's in the 350, no help from the neighbor, almost strained my milk doin it myself!)

Thanks guys. Im pretty excited. The first thing Ill need to do is lay some paint down on her. Thats an easy afternoon job though. The PO is stripping and smoothing out all the tins and laying down a nice primer coat. He would need some cash to finish paint her (understandably) so I need to figure out what color to paint it when I get it. Thats small change though.

Ill need to lower it about an inch or two right away as well. The front end is simple buisness, but out back Im not 100% sure about what route I want to take. Id like some decent lowering shocks, but right now, price is a big issue. Anything decent Ive seen is above my paygrade at the moment. No biggie though, Ill figure it out. So, Ill cross that bridge when I get to it.

Other than that, I did a little inventory at the garage today to see what usable stuff I had. In my new pile theres some nice superbike bars, bar end mirrors, and grips. I was informed today by a good good good friend that he happens to have an original Yoshimura 4-1 set up hanging in the garage that hes donating (HELL YES) to the old gal.

The PO is also supposed to hook me up with a spare seatpan that I can get over to Jim (AlchemyPGH) for some cafe treatment when I have a few bucks to pay him what he deserves for his amazing work.

In the end, Im not doing anything to this bike that isnt a bolt on deal. As stated before, I have enough projects (including another one thanks to BradJ today ;)) and need this to be my workhorse.

Thanks for all the responses to this guys, and if all goes as planned (which it never does...) Ill be posting some pics next week.

Ha, I know man. I ALMOST feel bad sometimes. ALMOST. ;)

I think Ive found some neat-o shocks... We will see.

I have a alum swing arm that will fit that thing but im not driving to your house again for a while

I'd cut foam out of the seat before I fitted short shocks. If that's an option you get to keep your ground clearance and handling (what there is of it) and your feet will still touch teh ground when you need them to.

the only thing with that is a 750 has a wide seat pan the less pad ing the more noticably and painful that will be put 250 rebel shocks and 550 front tubes a inch up in the trees, and cut the foam down a bit

+1 on the wide seat pan. After cutting mine up I realized the the po had it so thick. But it still works. Im a short guy myself (5'8") and I can keep one foot on the ground at stops. Had no idea rebel shocks would fit too! And von, if you ever go with clipons, I discovered they work pretty swell on top of the tree if you push the forks up enough to fit em. Kinda nice for shorter people, and I can get a little more pull back too without dishing the tank.

Post pics soon!!! :)
