shock at spark plug cap

Hi All,

Been working on some ignition gremlins on a 1978 Suzuki GS750, and had a basic question. Is it normal to get shocked when touching the outside of a plug cap? I'm using new wires, but the cap is a few years old.

the boots are probably cracked. they can be replaced.
