Hey guys, just finishing up the last things for my build and I'm wondering what you guys have had to do with your cables after switching from stock bars to clip ons or clubmans? I spoke with a dude at MotionPro who said they'd make me shorter throttle cables for $35 a pop. Is that my only option?
Also, do I need to do this for all the cables (clutch, brake, tach etc)? I've ordered a shorter speedo cable from DCC, but not really sure what to with the others.
I'm still trying to stick to somewhat of a budget, so if I can get by without changing some of them that'd be nice. Thanks for your help.
I switched to clubmans and was able to use all of the stock cables. Try routing them in different ways to take up any slack that might be there...you should be able to find something that works well and looks right.
Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking. I'll probably get some shorter throttle cables from MotionPro cause mine are frayed, but I'll see what I can do with the others. Thanks dude.
You can rerout but it will never look as good as shorter cables, and they are much more likely to bind.
You don't need the push pull cables, you should be just fine with 1 cable so theres your money saving right there
Well my speedo cable had disintegrated and I saw a shorter one so i went for it, but the gauges will sit slightly lower. I probably would've been fine with the factory length on those though.
I compared the difference between the factory bars and clip ons and it seems my clip ons sit about 7 inches lower. So should I order 7" shorter cables? Im afraid of ordering them too short. They were a TIGHT fit with the factory setup so I'm thinking I'll order them about 3" shorter to be safe. I'd rather them have a little slack than be too short.
