Been Around the Block
I was going to get a new bike today. Gs550e. The kid had some issues with the title and the carbs. So i said screw it. I already have a
N old bike that takes my money and time. Why get another one? So i tore her down to find the mystery engine noise. Well, after 25 minutes, noise determined, right side rod bearing/crank. Fleabay cranks are 40 bucks. So, the teardown I so tried to avoid is now in progress. Target date is biketoberfest. Should be done before that though.
I did find some interesting damage in the head though. Pics to follow. This damn iPad is uselss if you want to post pics. Great for TOOL in the garage thugh.
Anybody got a 77earlier kz400 crank for sale?

I think this bearing qualifies as shot. Plasti gauge without the bearing to measure the bearing size needed, right?

Man I'd love to go get that tank. Maybe then I wouldn't be so nervous to knee dent mine. Keep an eye on Daytona CL too. Over the past few months I've seen a couple 400 part outs on there.

Im good after this repair. Now i wony be worried about going more than 15 miles away from the house. I knew i had an issue, was just in denial. Ebay bearings 17 shipped. Should be good to go by next weekend. I check t
Tampa cl some times. Orlando cl SUCKS. Beat sportbikes from "stunters" and overpriced harleys.
Why do harleys cost so much? Completely amazes me everytime I see a 5 figure used harley. Why? Anyway, thanks for cl heads up.

Yea I lived down there for a while (still have a 407 # actually ;D) and I could never find anything good on CL. Gotta love the $6500 rattle canned "stunt" bikes with no titles though

you're going to want to clean out all the engine cases and the parts that you're not replacing, shreds of hardened bearing steel are very very bad for other engine parts

Been cleaning cases since. Thank god for the little screen in the bottom of the pan. I cut the oil filter and was amazed not to find anything. Now im hunting clutch plates. Might as well.....
