So who's going to the Toronto Motorcycle Show? Dec 7-9

Had to happen sometime...

Noel is right.

My opinion:
It's not about how much time, blood, money, whatever... that's bragging rights.
Just show the bikes that you can get there...
If Scarcat is setting it up he should get some choice for what's gonna be there.
Otherwise just make sure all of the moderator's sign off on it because it's their name "DOTHETON.com" that is going to be out there.

And I think you guys should wait till next time, this is clearly causing stress.

I'm with ease on this... Noel had to be right at one point.
I love this idea, and would like to take part for sure.

Also, I agree with leaving this till next year. That way, we could have a full booth setup with a proper stand, and ensure that it has the right impact. It would also give more time for planing.

my 2 cents.

I cringe at the idea of trailer queens or bikes built by deep pockets and machine shops being displayed. The world already has plenty of venues for that kind of thing that exclude the work of the average shade tree mechanic who frequent these boards. The whole spirit of the cafe racer was taking whatever you rode and making it lighter, faster and better handling, largely through your own efforts. While I admire new bikes that tens of thousands have been spent on by owners with lots of money, they are largely virgin piles of expensive parts and shouldn't be put into the same category as a bitsa bike.

I quit reading bike magazines years ago for much the same reason, they no longer catered to the guy with a modest income that worked on his own bike, which is why I find the resurgence of cafe racers so appealing.

Hmmmm.....sounds like no display at this January Show. Shame.

Ok my opionion...the traditional cafe racer was British (Gold Stars, Tritons, Dunstall Nortons) made until the early '70's...the stuff you would have found at the Ace in London. The image everyone thinks of when you say cafe racer is a Triumph engine in a Norton Featherbed frame....Triton.

Most people in my age bracket grew up with Jap bikes. That's what we rode so that's what we modified. I have seen a few really nice examples of CB750 cafe racers at Sunday CVMG breakfast at Famous Sam's. Some done on a budget...some with over $10k invested...makes no difference really.

For a modern cafe racer...the Ducati Monster....striped and modified like mine is the perfect choice.

So here's the point....make a display of these examples -(1) traditional cafe - Triton (2) vintage Japanese - CB750 or similar which most of you ride and (3) modern - Ducati Monster or similar. Represent the whole genre and everyone is happy. Have handouts about the club and a banner....maybe some picture albums from rides and member project builds. Displays like vintage helmets and leathers are also cool.

I organized the CVMG booth at the January and April shows for the last 10 years. It's really not that huge of a deal to organize a booth. The booth is free and you can usually get as much space as you want.

Anyway.....see you at the January show. I will be at the Vincent booth all weekend. Drop by and introduce yourselves.
