this welder has never been plugged in. welds up tp 1/2" plate steel. this welder is $650 at home depot.its the weld pak 175 hd. heres the specs

Hmmmmm

What sort of power supply does this sort of thing need? I've never welded, but have always wanted to learn. Might be my opportunity now that I have decent electrical in my garage.

I have a 40A circuit running out to my garage with a subpanel. I put a 240/30A circuit on for a construction heater. Would that do the trick?

the welder was a gift and i only have 110v in my shop and i have a 110 mig so i couldnt be bothered running 220v the set up you have tim would work perfect. plus i rather have the parts/cash to get my bike done ;D
