Speedo Drive (kph vs mph)

I've searched high and low to try and get a correct answer on this and I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.

My bike from 1974 came with a speedometer that shows mph instead of kph and since I live up in the great north I would like it to reflect the kph instead of mph.

Is it just as simple as changing the gauge out from a mph to a kph or is there more to it?

You should be able to get a sticker to apply to your gauge. Check Ebay

I'd rather not go the sticker route as I want to change out the speedometer all together which is why I'm asking the question for
