SR500?

I'm thinking about an SR500 for my next build, but although they made a bunch of them over the years, I can't seem to find very many that are for sale...at least at a reasonable cost (i.e. under $1400?). I'd even look at an engine/transmission only proposition with an eye to integrating them into a custom frame. What do you recommend? Should I import an SR400 from Japan? They seem plentiful over there. Don't know what red tape I'd encounter getting it licensed and registered over here. Shipping cost would be another concern. I'm open to suggestions...

They are fantastic bikes, and thus are pricey.
There are deals to be had though, after looking for about a year I got mine for 100 bucks.

I really wanted an xt500, so if you find one of those and wanna trade, i would drive halfway to meet you.
I'm doing a "light build" on the tracker page. really just cleaning it up and upgrading a couple things.
I love the bike so far though!
