For the Skyteam Ace...

Headlight part no. Phillips S2 12728C1, Hella also make a S2 bulb. On Ebay there 35w/35w Halogen bulbs with an S2 base. Postie bikes blow headlight bulbs all the time as well.

Yes it is a "12728 S2 PHILIPS DUPLO 12V 35W/35W E1" as I had to look for it this week.

Note that it's not a common bulb (apparently), as I struggled a bit to find it. If you live in Australia, Vic you can find it at Burson stores. I changed mine yesterday and it blew again. So I probably have some serious problem with my electrical.

Cheers

My main beam kept blowing as well some time ago. I also feared there was a major problem with my electrics. Turned out the socket always loosened itself with the vibrations from riding. A few km was enough to blow the main headlight. I fixed it by glueing the socket to the reflector. Does not change a lot to the operation nor maintenance but ever since the light has stopped blowing (1000km).

Thanks guys. Found one at my local Yamaha dealership. Thanks for the help. Also had broken socket for globe which is now held firm with cable ties into reflector.

Thanks namloos, that makes sense as my reflector is burnt a bit as well (right below the bulb).

However I wish my problems ended there. Right now I don't have high beam/low beam and the background bulbs for instruments/gauges stopped working too. I wonder if the fuse is blown, but I guess that would mean nothing would work (I might be wrong) as the other lights work. Also does anyone know if there is a separate fuse box other than the fuse near the battery?

I would appreciate any feedback.

Look at brown wire at right hand switch block on handlebars. Is common to all your faults

I blew around 3 bulbs. Until I changed the whole head unit and headlight with 7" no problems since. Probably a coincedence, but who knows.

Hi guys!
If it helps, in the first 1500k or so, I went through about 4-5 globes. Took the bike back to the shop, as that's not right, and their solution to what they said was a common problem, was to put a resistor somewhere in the headlight wiring. No other electrical changes. Since then, over another 4000km, only one globe blown... Electrics are black magic to me, so sorry I can't be more specific. Happy to take pics of the resistor and work out where in the harness it is connected if need be.
