Well I just traced my electrical issues I'm having with my headlight and starter solenoid to the start button on the RH switch pod. On the CB500Ts apparently this button switches the hot side of the solenoid coil instead of grounding it like most I've seen. The headlight power is also running through this button so it shuts off the light when you start up the bike.
When I got the bike the plastic body of the switch was all cracked and brittle. I did my best to position everything properly and then potted the thing with plastic epoxy. It tested out OK so I thought I was golden. Unfortunately it isn't making solid contact because the voltage drops to almost nothing when I put a load on it.
Anyone have any ideas on options for replacing this set-up? It looks like the switch pods on Mike's XS are the grounding type. I guess I could re-wire the starter to switch on ground instead, and bypass the switch completely for the headlight.
Finding a OEM setup looks to be a bitch. I guess if I was building a "real" cafe I'd toss the starter in the garbage and be a man about it...
