Starter problems

Been Around the Block
On my CB500T build the starter apparently is not getting what it needs from the 8 cell Antigravity LI battery. I think it's supposed to draw 55amps but it's pulling 140. Does this suggest a short in the windings? Luckily it starts on the 1st or second kick, but if I'm going to carry the weight of the starter, I'd kinda like it to work.

Have you disassembled the starter to clean it up? You may find that the brushes are just worn out. That battery should definitely be enough to turn it over.

Bought a starter off eBay for $12. Rectifier was bad too, so my friend Adam made a new one. Now the battery is charging good and playing nice with the starter.
