Steering Head bearing race removal

Hey, all...

Now I'm sure there's been plenty on this subject, but I gotta ask....I'm having trouble with getting the stock bearing races out of the steering head. Is the "heat & beat" method appropriate in this area of the frame? (CB350 Four)

Thanks!
Robb

Hey Robb,
Worked for me on my CB360. As BK said, long, sturdy flat blade, rubber mallet and go medieval on it. Heat does help, just rotate the torch so as not to get things too hot in one spot.

Did it...bottom one was a bear to get out, but the top one came out on the 1st swing and nearly put out one of my shop lights!
Thanks!

OH yeah i can agree with that one :p the bottom race on my cb350f was probably the hardest job of the whole project  tried heat / hammer n chisel / penetrating oil /soaking / had to clean the neck on frame up with emery cloth before fitting tapered bearing worth doin tho feels smoother from lock to lock ;D
