Yeah this seems like a much simpler and ultimately cheaper solution

I put constant-wind Racetek springs with factory-spec oil volume in my CB500 along with a hefty (about a 1", maybe a bit more) pre-load spacer- I hear from several friends that this is a good way to go for a stiffer, more modern "feel" (even though it's not truly stiffer, just rebounds a bit faster). Will send reports when I get the bike back together - maybe someone who has done this specific combo can comment.

Yes, just an update. I put a 30mm preload spacer in and it feels much better.
