Stiffening my CB350 Frame

bloodbath

I have a 72 CB350 K4 project I'm working on (link in signature) and I want to stiffen up the frame to tighten up the handling, especially under power and braking. I wanted some advice on my game plan.

These are my proposed modifications:

1) Mig weld the backbone and any other spotwelded joints
2) Add tubular braces between the downtube and the rear tubular struts (Ill attach a technical drawing when I have my comp in front of me)
3) I plan on boxing in the frame under the seat (the open stamped section) as well as an x-brace between the left and right rails under the seat to provide horizontal strength.
4) Finally, I want to seal up around all the joints where sheet metal meets tubular portions. This is more of a cosmetic change, kinda like frenching a door. (-Would Lead work better?)

Any advice, previous experience with stiffening a CB frame would be appreciated.

Check what AHRMA USCRA etc guys do to their race bikes to make them work. I think you will find that it's not a lot.

I also like to fit a new 'tank mount' just behind steering stem on CB350's'
Old Harley push rod seems to be just about right diameter.
It also prevents the pressed section flexing ;D

Could you post a picture of what you are talking about? I am having a little trouble visualizing.

I don't think I can get a pic until next weekend.
If I get a chance I'll do it sooner
