Is there a consensus method for cleaning aluminum parts that won't show? The insides of engine covers, brake drums/wheel hubs, etc.? Maybe just get these things blasted?
Blasting is certainly the easiest.
Soda preferably so you dont muck up your drum linings, and I never use anything but soda on something that sees oil as its real hard to clean all the little bits of abrasive out and it'll do a number on your engine.
Also try brake cleaner. Buy 5 or 6 cans and you'll be amazed what you can remove. shits horrible for you though so do it outside well ventilated
