Stuck Alternator Flange Bolt

Long story short, I am in the middle of an engine tear down of my 79 cb750k. I realize I may have gotten a little ahead of myself and have already pulled the top end. As many of you I am sure know this has lead to issues keeping the bottom end from spinning while trying to losen the various external bits from the engine.

This one though I don't think is entirely on me. I can stick a penny between the primary gear and clutch basket and that keeps things from spinning... or so I thought. I have sprayed penetrant, wopped the head of the bolt with a hammer, hit the breaker bar with a mallet, and used an impact and this thing won't budge. To the point that now have a penny that is shaped like my clutch basket gear on one side and my primary gear on the other. Mostly I write this to vent as I'm at a loss right now, but the only option I have left that I can think of is head. That being said, is it safe to take a torch to the rotor, or will that anger the charging system gods down the road?

Answers to that, or other suggestions would be quite welcomed at this point. Thanks!

It wouldn't matter either way. The engine isn't in the frame, so the most that would add is the resistance of the bearings in the transmission.... If I'm crushing a penny, I don't think that will be enough to keep it from spinning.

My thought is this needs to get more scientific than brute force, but that said, I'm at a loss at this point.

I don't see anything in the manual about LH, and I pulled a picture of the part up, and it looks to be RH threaded. I'm not really an expert here either though, so if someone tells me I'm wrong that is RH I'll gladly welcome that response.

Air impact is gonna set you free... no have one? just take her down to the crank and haul the whole crank to the buddy or shop with one.

It's probably RH - normally a left hand thread bolt or nut will have an "L" stamped on it somewhere.

Yes - I read you said you tried impact, but if it's not an air impact it's not the same.

It is an air impact, but admittedly, it's a pretty low end one, and the compressor in my basement is probably a little small. Sounds like I might just have to keep calm and carry on, and tackle this after I get the crank out.

So that's a no on the heat then?

You can try to heat the bolt but if its stretched it wont do much. a weak impact is frustrating, but the compressor if it gets to 100psi the first few hits should be plenty with a good gun.
