Hello. Complete newbie here. I am contemplating on buying Suzuki GSX400f to make it a cafe racer, but I have never had a project bike before. How would you rate difficulty working on this model? Would you recommend to buy it as a first project bike?

It was my first project as well and depending on your resources it can be a good first project bike. But if you don't have a lot of resources I wouldnt buy a gsx400f but rather buy a gsx400e since they are a lot more common and there are more aftermarket parts for It. I spend roughly 7.5k dollars all in all to get to a stage how the bike is now. For example piston rings for a gsx400f are $200...

Hi,

Im currently doing a cafe build on the same bike but using Bandit 600 donor parts for suspension etc. What was the speedo that you went with in the end? Im looking into changing the clocks to digital. The speedo swap will be straight forward, the tach change may be different depending on where the wire needs splicing into.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers

Mate that's an awesome job, turned out real well! That exhaust note is spot on for a Suzuki inline 4 also, bet it sounds good with the throttle open!

I went with the Koso D64 in the end, but I could have gone a bit bigger. Nevertheless I think it's a clean speedo and has everything you need.
