Swap CB350 front end with ZX7

Has anyone tried and maybe succeeded in swapping the CB350 front end with a 91 ZX7 front end. Just by measuring I have realized that there are no bearings available to just swap out, so I believe that a new steering stem has to be made. Please help

Well you could always use the zx forks and get another set of triples that have the same fork diameter and a stem shaft OD that you need.. Go to All Balls website and they have a fork conversion chart that you can use. Just look at the neck I'd on your bike and find a front end that will work. Though you may have to cut the stem down.

Or use the zx triples and get your stock stem pressed in..

Measure the height required for the bearings (I think it should be the same as the old set on the 350). Then measure the OD and ID and find a set that matches...or contact someone like All Balls bearings to see if they have a set that matches.

Found this list:

Thanks guys, but I looked at bearings and there is non available so I'm looking at finding someone that can make me a steering stem. Can anyone help with that?

Do a little searching. You'll find them. I put a 95 EX500 front end on my CB350. If I got the correct ZX7 sizes you should need:

Upper: 25 x 48.5 X 15.2
Lower: 28 x 50 x 14.4

I ended up finding the sizes I needed through Pyramid Parts in the UK.

have you checked allballsracing.com for their fork conversions? they have a large chart for the conversion bearings.. this doenst mean your zx7 stem is the correct length, that has to be taken into account as well.

The ZX7 stem is 35 mm, and there is no bearing from 35 to 48.5 and 50 to fit the CB. I was hoping I can swap the stems, but from eyeballing it they are also different. I was thinking maybe I can just turn a sleeve to take up the difference, but I don't know if that will work either

Can you give me the dimensions of your stock stem(ODxL) and bearings (ODxIDxW) and then the dimensions of the zx stem..

You are probably going to have to do one of three things: 1. get a new stem(either get one machined or get one from another bike model) 2. use a different model triples(same fork diameter of zx) with matching stem length that has the compatible bearing sizes (for example, on my build I am using 41mm 94' GSX 650 Katana forks with 91' CBR 1000 triples and I'm getting the stem machined down since its too long.[katana stem would have been perfect but I didnt like the top triple]) 3. get the zx stem machined down to something that has a compatable bearing ID

Hi Ronnie, can you refer me to someone that can make a new stem?

crazypj, send him a PM.

He made my axle spacers, disc spacers, exhaust collars, trimmed my GSXR stem and lots more. He'd have no probs making a stem.

Well where are you? I'm in Lousiana..

Any local machine shop can make one on their lathe.. Just give them all the necessary measurements or bring everything with you that you want and they will take the measurements..
