Tank Badges

So, when I stripped my tank I removed the badges. The little spacer that holds the badge pins fell out and was lost. Now, the holes in the tank that are designed to hold the badge are too large and the badge does not stay attached to the tank. What do I do now? Can you buy little inserts that go into the hole to make it smaller (doh! sounds dirty)?

Hmmmm......I didn't know those even could come out. Maybe some double sided 3M tape from an auto parts store?

cant help dude...mine are bondoed in tank. take your badge and stop in a local body shop. Ill bet they got em. all the older cars used em to hold badges on. If I hadnt sold my junky 79 suburban the other day... I woulda pried a couple out of her for ya.

Go with the 3m stuff. When I made new badges out of copper, I posed the question of how to attach... Several people offered up the 3m double sided stuff. I was skeptical, but it seems to work really well...

I'm sure you could even leave the posts there, since they still fit into the holes. Albeit loosely...

Or you could buy new ones from a place like bike bandit

Or you could fill the hole with Bondo then push the badge pins in and let the Bondo set around them.

That sounds like all sorts of trouble

If that's a Honda tank, I think you want part 87311-634-600 . Google it, lots of places should stock them

Thanks for the ideas fellas. I also debated filling the area in with bondo or glaze and not running any badges. But, I think it looks better with them. Think I'll try the 3m double sided tape and see what happens.

As mentioned above, if you take the badge into an auto paint store, they'll have the correct press in clips for you. They're used like crazy in the auto biz for holding on emblems, then you can take them on and off easily.

Very cool, I'll be looking into that. Thanks
