Tank for a Honda CB400T Hawk

How do you cats find tanks compatible with various bikes? I've got an '80 CB400T Hawk and I'm dying to find a different tank for it – more rounded and 2" shorter so it fits without the stock extender bracket – but even with every measurement taken, it's a nightmare trying to find a tank at a junkyard or something, trying to find a tank in a sea of tanks.

I've got a CB360 or similar tank from the 70's on mine.

From what I've gathered the cb/cm are interchangeable, not sure form there. I have a CM400t 1979 tank, but it has a leak and a dent on the side, could be repaired. I'm trying to find a hawk tank...

In general, though, how do you determine which tanks will fit a bike? I keep daydreaming that there's some master spreadsheet out there somewhere and I just haven't yet been let in on the secret.

for the most part no 2 bikes tanks interchange. You have to be willing to modify the tank or bike frame to make them work.

I was afraid that was the answer. Man. If that's the case, then you'd think people/companies would regularly list tank dimensions on sales pages. Gah.

Sometimes sticking with the same brand will help, otherwise just grab a few tanks and trial fit them!
