We should be able to do 100 plus with the correct gearing.

On the orange drag bike forks I don’t know what brand they are but I have seen them before.


It is my understanding that slicks are not speed rated neither is this front tire. However it has done 70 lol. I am looking forward to swapping over to some Knobby tires on the grass!

The reversed forks increase the amount of trail, making the steering slower and more stable at speed.

One way not to change the rake...have you seen that set of forks before? Are they called trailing link?

It's bleeding.

Please straighten that pointer out so that it points at the center nut. I can't tell if the top is at TDC or the pointer end....

BTW, did I tell you I can be totally anal at times? ;):) The devil really is in teh details though. Take your time and get it right. Dead right. The difference versus almost right or sorta right is astonishing. Everytime I get something almost right because I was too busy, the results were very disappointing. Getting it spot on is no gaurantee of results but it's a great foundation to build on. But you don't need me to tell you that. That's BB's job. Right? o_O
 
True trailing links are pretty rare, though they seem to be used on some scooters and weird stuff like the Honda Rune. Leading links were more common and are even used today on some sidecar outfits. The teles with an offset axle were pretty common before everyone went to upside down forks - Bultaco, Montesa, Maico, Yamaha and many others all used them. It was a way of maintaining good overlap between the inner and outer fork tubes with very long travel.

Thank you. I totally understand. Critical. I watched some guys use a paper degree wheel with the zeel and I don’t see how that can be accurate.

I need to take the pointer off and sharpen it also. When you look at this chart it tells a story why I need to be more precise. And get to the correct static angle. I had one guys say “why do you need a computer to time a taco he said I use to do with two screws.“ I think this chart tells why. I have a bigger degree wheel but it won’t fit on the rotor.

And check it doesn't vibrate all over the place when the engine is running - the only timing figure that's worth anything at all is the one you read with a strobe on a running engine.

I have a friend who has a Rune. I love that bike aesthetically. We even used a Rune type headlight on our first build.

Wouldn’t the leading link be more stable than the trailing link because it would increase the rake angle?

I installed the degree wheel bolted between the starter plate and the rotor. I ran out of time yesterday and stopped because my wife said I was stinky and noisy...ok it was Mother’s Day and I obliged.

I just told her that I was rich. So rich that the shop looked like when Cheech and Chong got out of a car. I kid you not a cloud of 2 smoke drifted across my neighbors yard. Lol! I ran out of fuel yesterday and it went lean on me and was very grateful we were 20:1.

Funny thing is once you get it running under load and in tune it'll make lots of heat and there'll be hardly any smoke at all.

The m70 engine that I got the new crank from must have had castor oil in it. It was well lubricated when I disassembled it.

Glad we were running rich. With 30 degrees of static angle programmed, 18 degrees in the map, and what I suspect that the polarity being off, meaning it is firing on the trailing edge of the reluctor and not the leading edge, we initially started the bike on 29 degrees BTDC. It also started on 39 degrees BTDC but you can’t get it to idle below 2500 rpms. Lynn Mobley said a Bultaco will run between 1 and 4mm before top dead center. Well we now know it will run 1 to 8.87 mm BTDC.

So there you go we have the rich and advanced tuning. What will we call it? I like my tuning like my friends tuning? You are damn lucky Tex tuning? That throttle was snappy at 39 degrees BTDC!
