The GuZ - 1984 Moto Guzzi G5 V1000 Cafe Racer

I love where this is going, but I have to say; some quality time with those valve covers and some sandpaper (then buffing again) will get them to the same quality finish as your beautiful tank and cowl. You've come this far; why let some pitting get in the way?!

Tyres.. I've gone for Bridgestone BT45s on my Guzzi Cali Café project. I've been thinking of a T.A.Baker tank for mine too, as I'm not happy with the Lemans tank on it now.. is yours the long or short version?

The distributor was dirty with oil, grease, aluminum rust and god knows what else...

Parted it, cleaned it with a degreaser (that usually used to clean engines), brushed it with a soft metal brush at the size of a toothbrush, new contact points and... done.

Frontend will be replaced with upside-down one from a 2008 Honda CB600F Hornet.

Design end engineering of the new triples is almost done... :)

If you have 18" front and rear I would look at Continental Conti GO! I have them on my CX 500 Cafe and like them a lot. Avon Roadriders are very popular with the vintage crowd good tires. Continental also has the first radials for vintage bikes, 19" front and 18" rear called the Continental Classic Attack. Radials for vintage bikes is a huge step up in performance. I love your Guzzi. If you like you could have someone TIG weld the broken fins on the valve cover. Build them up and then re-profile with a die grinder and files, good as new.

Rearset...

The original rearset on the GuZ was a mystery from day one... so many moving parts just to... shift... :)

When I started looking for a new set, I couldn't find any for this model (G5 V1000) so the closest thing I found was for a 850 Le Mans Guzzi, which is a bit different but I believed I'll be able to modify and change it.

So... I ordered a set of a 850.... it took about 2 months from the moment I connected the shop in Italy until the time it was shipped. A day after it was shipped I looked at the pictures of the item again and I was like... "ohhhhh noooooooooooooooooo" I ordered by mistake a set for a 2 seats bike, meaning an extension with footbegs for a passenger... too late, already ordered...

When the part arrived, I stared at it and it hit me :) I can use that extension as a bracket for the muffler! as I had no idea where I'm going to connect it to.... so.. did some modifications and.. done, all good :)

That's what was on the GuZ originally:

With the help of a friend on the keyboard we designed (by we, it's me saying.. like that.. like that.. and he do the magic 8)) new triple for the Guzzi.

I will use a 2008 up-side-down Honda CB600F shocks.

Next step, CNC ;)

Those look good.

Is that a universal Avon? Able to mount either front or rear? I noticed the directional arrows that give front and rear rotational directions?
