I bought this bike pretty much done, it passes the 10 foot test. but it has issues and I'm gonna take it the rest of the way. I'm going to need some help if you will indulge me, as i'm new with this type of bike and as i've come in at the tail end of a lot of mods already, well, its a mess under there. a few things about her, 72 cb360, tank and seat have been done as well as the pipes. it looks like rearsets were mounted at one time but taken off. bars are not stock but not your standard "cafe" style either. whoever did the electrical had no idea what they were doing (or were in a hurry) and its just a tangle of splices and dead ends. it does have k&n filters on the carbs but they are kinda angled in due to the battery box being in the way.

i plan on relocating the battery to the rear between the shocks, that should clean it up a little, i have several good, tested 12v 7ah batteries i pulled out of some APC UPS units that were being tossed out at work.
I also want to install rearsets but i don't really know where to begin there.
the carbs are keinhin (don't know the size) are these the stock carbs for this model?
she only came with front turn signals and they don't flash. I hooked up some rears but same thing no flashing, so i'm guessing the relay is bad. where is the relay on this bike? I looked for it but couldn't be sure where it was. if it becomes too much trouble i'll just remove the turn signals all together (hand signals only are legal in MD) plus i think it will give it a cleaner look.
minor issues with the carbs, on the ride down from where i bought it, it would occasionally stall at stoplights. but it always restarted on the first kick. so i have some work to do there. possibly just needs some good gas and/or fuel system cleaner run through it.

so thats what i've got for now, help/advice appreciated
thanks in advance

The turn signal relay is most likely under the tank. What does it do when you flip the switch - not come on, don't blink, etc?

The carbs probably just need pulled off and cleaned. Get them cleaner than clean, and check the inside of the tank along with the petcock screen.

i thought it would be under the tank too but couldn't find it. when i flip the switch the lights come on but they don't blink

Hopefully the PO didn't eliminate it all together. Got a wiring diagram yet?

Should be. Check out some of the links in the "parts and shop manuals" section from DTT's homepage.

I think I'm going to go with the streamlined look and do away with the turn signals altogether.
on another topic she has keihin carbs which i assume are stock for that bike, in my other projects I'v always ran mikuni's, how much trouble is a mikuni swap on this bike? what kind of performance gains can i expect with a set of mikunis vs the stock carbs?
tonuppirate?

turn signals has to be the relay. I bought a cheap ($3) from auto store. Dime City (DTT sponsor) has for $3 as well and likely fits better. Mine is temp vs electric, but working fine.

look at the micro fishes for your bike:

many states require turn signals, so might be worth checking.

according to maryland state code

§ 21-605. Signals by hand and arm or signal lamps.

(a) In general.- Except as provided in subsections (b) and (c) of this section, each required stop or turn signal shall be given:

(1) By hand and arm in conformity with § 21-606 of this subtitle; or

(2) By signal lamps.

(b) When signal lamps required.- Each motor vehicle in use on a highway shall be equipped with and the required signal given by signal lamps, if the distance from the center of the top of the steering post to the left outside limit of the body, cab, or load of the vehicle is more than 24 inches.

(c) Size requirements.- Each motor vehicle in use on a highway shall be equipped with and the required signal given by signal lamps if, for any vehicle or combination of vehicles, the distance from the center of the top of the steering post to the rear limit of the body or load is more than 14 feet.

I'm keeping a copy of this with me just in case I get stopped, but it is pretty clear that hand signals are allowed in lieu of electronic turn signals on bikes.

now about those carbs.....
