The smoker..76 rd400 project

HeadlessNorseman

Headless Horseless Norseman
hey everyone, this is my 3rd bike, following an 86 vf500 and 84 yamaha XJ bobber, a 76 yami RD 400. I received it entirely stock except some aftermarket expansion chambers. Its in the process of getting cleaned, painted, and fixed, should be done by early spring. Its getting new shocks, a solo seat, custom airbrushing, bracketless rearsets(custom design by me), and a few other little surprises. Next winter the real hefty mods will come in, planning a monoshock swingarm and a modern sport bike front end. Here are some pics

pretty much how i got it except the tank was red, it had a stock seat, and a red oil tank

pulled the back end apart, came with barely any of the parts. No bearing covers, no chain adjusters, missing axle and the wrong axle nut. all together now!

First piece of custom... a banshee thumb throttle. That combined with a hidden kill switch, reverse shift pattern should make this bike pretty to steal... and prevent my friends from wanting to ride it

Nice start mate, loving that thumb throttle... although I reckon it'd take some getting used to! Either way, you've got a nice build going and I'll be interested to see where it ends up.

All the best for it - boingk

VERY ROUGH draft of the seat... thrown together quicly with foam, office chair vinyl and plywood. will be fiberglassed when i get a shape i like, but its the overall look im goin for tho! exciting... next on the list is sorting out the wiring mess
