That will look killer with the front forks and seat!

Can't wait to see it!

my thoughts exactly. I think the blue will be a huge improvement and really tie the bike together.

NICE! It looks like a similar blue that I used... Mine is a Subaru color. Blue Ridge Pearl.

Haha, I thought you'd like it. I'm not exactly sure what blue it is anymore, we bought a few gallons of it a while back to paint a car with and never used it. I think it's some mustang blue.

What do you think about the idea of stylizing the original tank decal to fit the shape of the new tank?

Re: The Tortoise: cb350 - oh noes I brokes it.

I'd do something inspired by the honda wing... Take the old honda wing and put a twist on it... I see a lot of sketching in your future to figure it out!

As promised, new paint (these really don't do the colour justice)

Oh man... this was one of my favorite builds on here... love the new color, so excited to see her back in the swing of things

Thanks, I appreciate the complements.

Yes, yes, wheels soon. (I get asked this once a week) When I have time to hit the machine shop for more than a few hours.

BCB, I should have painted the rear fender, I don't know what I was thinking, it's ok though, I''ve got plenty of paint left, I'll just spray it once the motor is back in and running.

In motor related news, most of the parts I was waiting on came in yesterday, so I can assemble the entire thing and put it back in. That just leaves me waiting on Dyna coils and a new stator. But I can run it without both of those.

Are you doing a high output stator or sticking with a stock unit?

The ricks unit, Stock unit doesn't seem to be able to handle the "35watt" HID and led lights.

I got the motor completely reassembled, back in the frame and polished/cleaned the pipes etc. Few kicks and the bike runs again, timing needs some work, need to resync carbs etc still, but it runs! Very happy about that.

Silly me, I forgot to put the tach drive back in the housing and oil peed all over the freshly cleaned motor.

pics/video when i can get a camera card....1 card for 2 cameras is just plain silly.

Well we went out for a bit of a ride just now. About 50km on the fresh motor, ran great for most of it. Way more power, it just wants to pull and pull.

I should have known it was to good to last though. Oil started pissing out of the motor. Just waiting for it to cool down to start into it again.

Bummer Uniac. Where was it coming from - side cover gaskets?

That bike would look great even covered in oil.

Found the leak, comming from the clutch actuator rod, I guess i forgot to swap the seals, easy enough fix.

The timing is still giving me trouble...atleast I think it's the timing, may be a coil overheating, hopefully i can sort that out in the next day or 2, I forgot how much I love riding this bike.

It's cause you painted her blue!

You know Chris, it's actually starting to grow on me, The pipes have gone a bit gold now and really seem to set off the paint.

I can't for the life of me lick this timing issue. I've got it pegged at LF and F at idle on the ricks stator, it runs like crap. Going to swap in the factory stator and try all over again.

If anyone local in Toronto (st. george station) wants to come by and give me a hand i'll love you forever. Beer etc will be provided, good times will be had.
.....

I admit defeat, I gave up on the points.

New goodies installed today, bore-tech ignition and dyna 5ohm coils(not pictured).

WOW, is all I can say, massive spark, bike starts with no effort at all first go, less than a 1/4 kick. Simply amazing.

and to top it all off, the bore-tech unit has a proper electronic tach output so I finally have a reliable tach!

Running vids hopefully tomorrow if the weather gets nicer.

hmmm... you will be running the same ignition as me...

why 5ohm coils and not 3ohm? you could get an even FATTER spark with the 3ohm!

tortoise is looking GREAT! loving it man...
