The Tread Thread! Show off your Café's Tyres!

Gordon

Been Around the Block
Show off the tyres on your Café Racer. Also add in details about them and whether you had to make any modifications to the swingarm or chain guard, etc.

Not all that great, but I've bolted on a Duro 100/90-19 inch tyre on the front of my Café. Haven't changed the rear tyre yet. So in essence ;D the front tyre is wider than the rear tyre for now. I'm planning on getting a 110/90-19 for the rear. Will have to cut the OEM chainguard for that.

Merge if topic already exists.

Here's my front...dont have a good pic of my back...ill get one up soon...

CS 100/90-19,(actually a 3.25, but i think the conversion is 100??anyone?) rear is either a 110 or 120 (4.00) i cant recall off the top my head.

Avon RoadRiders. Both 18" size, 100 in front 110 rear. Universal type allowing both front and rear use (reverse rotation depending). They're great tires from what I've read.

Hey Ease...just curious...did you get your checker decals from Carpy?. I am going to order some but pictured them being wider.

These Avons Roadriders are great handling tires!

@jokuelkaffe
The paintless rims look better. But maybe the red ones would look better with what you've planned on your cafe. Or else you could've actually painted the rims red and the spokes and hub black. What tyres are you planning on?!

@oldog & TinTin
Fab tyres and wheels!

Good eye, Carpys are wider, that's why I didn't want em (that and the fact that they are stickers - expensive stickers).

I had mine cut out of white vinyl to the exact width I wanted at a sign shop (the same shop that did the custon decals on the tank) that way the black won't fade in the sun like it can with stickers - even if he says it won't.

The cafe racer decals on the side covers, however, are from carpy. ;D Don't mind using stickers where the sun won't be gleaming.

My Hodaka Ace 100 Track Day bike will be running these:

Both tires on the Hodaka are Dunlop KR-825 2.75/3.75-18
Marked: "For Racing purposes only"

They are tubeless,but of course since I'm running spoked rims I have to run them with a tube installed. They are very low profile and are listed as "Classic" race tires according to Dunlop.

The rear tire is in pretty good condition,but the front is worn down on the edges and is wearing funny(probably due to the air pressure that was run in them for racing?).

No mods on the swing-arm were needed.

For a street tire I would probably go with the Pirelli Sport Demons that are pictured on the Ninja 250. They are great bias ply tires for the money and come in a HUGE array of sizes to fit odd size rims/vintage bikes.

Loudbike's got Dunlop GT 501s (120 in the rear which required a new rim)

I wish these came in smaller sizes that I could fit on my Hondas
