things that make me grumpy

I believe he's referring to people being generally healthier and not as fat as they used to be.

No that was simply a hypothesis. I was only talking that point out with rich. Wasn't ever presented as a "no you're wrong and this is how it is" you're of case.

Also.. sucks about your job man. I know the feeling though. I am out of work despite having a master's in architecture and doing construction for a few years. So I fix phones. Hope the job hunt goes well for you.

People who ask "What do you think of my build" then get peeved when they find out it isn't "Everybody gets a Trophy Day".

::) you should of got a degree in turning on the news. You went to school to get a job in a field that depends on buildings getting built. While half the country outta work. Thats kinda like getting a masters in shoeing horses four years after the invention or the affordable car.

Or, the relatively inexperienced mechanic who makes a post asking for advice, and then argues with the experienced mechanics when he doesn't like the answers he gets.

Really bad analogy.
There are more horses in the US now than ever in history. :)

Oh, and BTW... My dad was a horseshoer.

To be fair adc I could care less. ;) there are more horses because we don't need them to die for us anymore

I hate when kids get outta school and act like the world owes them something. Especially when that something depends on regular working class guys spending money for unneeded services

Being laid off after being told that I have a position in the new contract. Yup, today is my last day on the job.

Sorry to hear that, it really sucks when you know the work is there but they get rid of you anyway to bring in someone with less experience because it's cheaper

Yep, that doesn't so much make me grumpy as it pisses me off.
It used to happen quite a lot when I was teaching 'entry level techs' at MMI

I makes me grumpy, and you ALL have see it.
Especially grumpy before I have finished my first coffee.

Which, near as I can figure, you drink immediately before going to bed

Yeah, architecture is definitely considered a luxury good. I think that's the issue though. It's part of the reason we have so much unchecked urban-sprawl. I'm not sure that cookie cutter housing developements are the most ethical solution to what they were made to address.

But back to your statement, It makes me grumpy that the world requires you to go to school until you're 17 or 18 and then doesn't really have anything to offer for a job after that. It also makes me grumpy that the status quo for the standard american is to get a college degree, when it is unrealistic to expect that all exiting HS grads can get jobs in those fields. In short, the media makes me grumpy.

I do just fine with a wife kid house and new cars on a hs education. you gotta want it
