Thinking about converting points to dyna coils (72' CL350)

Saw Dime City now has ignition coils (3.0 ohm for singles and twins)

Would these work well with a CL350?

Thanks!

Yup, you will like them, but even better when you pair it with a pointless electronic ignition system and cdi. Now that you will love.
I think newtronics just started making the systems again. Worth a look if your budget allows.

PAMCO makes an ignition too. Affordable at about $150. Very well reviewed by our resident Clevelander DJElliot. That with the coils and reliability goes through the roof.

awesome. thanks for the input and i'll post what i find out.

trying to make this beast as reliable as i can afford to!

Do NOT get 3 ohm coils. For points and Dyna S in street applications use 5 ohm coils. 3 ohm coils draw way too much current on a street bike. Why TF do people sell them for street apps?

3 ohm coils tend to run much hotter and they run batteries flat and cause low speed misfires with older charging systems.

That's not to say that they can't be used, but they are not designed for points on a street bike.

Dyna S, or Pamco are good ignitions. Dyna will need some work to make it fit. Pamco I believe now offer a CB350 kit. So do Bore Tech now I think about it.

Hands down that Pamco rocks. I do not doubt the reliability of my bike what so ever. Revs amazing, starts first kick, smooth as silk. I will put these on every bike I get that he makes a unit for.

noted! thanks for the heads up teazer.

djelliot, so you've run the kit you posted a link of?

Yes sir. Been running it for a few months. Love it.

That Pamco conversion looks like a great deal. The first thing I do to all my old Fords is rip out the points & install an electronic kit(Pertronix). So, would 5 Ohm coils be better than 3 Ohm?

Yeah. 5ohm seems to be the general concensous. I guess 3ohms for running Cdi set ups.
