Been Around the Block
This forum is awesome because you can ask questions and get real answers. There are some other forums COUGH triumph675.net COUGH, that answer every question with "did you search? The search function works. We already talked about it." There seems to be some forums that discourage discussion of motorcycles. Thanks DTT for an awesome forum!

Yes the Ducati Forum can be the same way but I guess I can understand that ....you shouldn't be elbows deep into your engine without owning or Reading the Factory Service manual Especially on a Ducati or Triumph (who knows which way they threaded the screws? type questions can be difficult to answer sometimes)...But I do agree this Forum is Top Notch and I frequent here more than the Duc forum, Lots of good guys building great bikes on Mac & cheese budget's and I can't get enough! Sometimes I feel like I don't even have enough $$ to visit the other forum

Agreed, I love this place although I am not super active on here. So much attitude on other bike forums as well. It appears MOST over here get humour without their panties twisting. Valid and thorough replies to 99% of questions asked! Thanks DTT and all the members for a grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat forum! : )

Ya, it's the people that "make it" here, or anywhere for that matter. 8)

It can be a little frustrating when the same questions or material is covered again and again, but most of the guys approach these things with a level of patience and a sense of humor. I said "most", right?? ;D

It's a fun place to hang out. I's even more fun when you get to actually meet some of these guys and gals! Do what you can to attend a "meet" if at all possible! 8)

What a coincidence! I was just thinking the same thing the past few days. I have been on a Certain car forum (not saying names) and the whole time I was thinking I wish I could just ask DTT. pleople on this other forum are..well....jerks. The rude and nasty comments would be so discouraging to a noob. Everyone for the most part on DTT is helpful and respectful. If someone really has a problem with what you are doing they tell you in a nice way or they just keep thier mouth shut. If the world was full of people like this, it would be a much better place to live. "You stay classy Do The Ton"

Some forums (the HAMB for instance) seem to be infested with bad ass, outlaw racers who's sole purpose is to drive off noobs. But on the other hand some of the questions I see asked just beg for smart ass answers. None of us started off knowing all the answers. And if you don't know the answer to your question you gotta ask. Here you tend to get the answer without all the shit.

Most one-make clubs [ bike or car ] are so full of their own importance [ ie up their own arse ::)], that they fail to realise that they drive away new blood by adopting a "we know everything, and come back when YOU do" attitude.

I ONLY join one -make clubs [ usually fringe ] to gain knowledge of my own particular machine. The Alpine [ French Sports car ] was one, but they WERE true enthusiasts and genuinly helpful with new members.

The BMW club [ UK ] and Volvo OC are 2 cases in point. They even try to tell you when and where you can use the words BMW and Volvo ! I used to love posting my BMW Fighter build pix on there [ BMW ] You could almost feel the outrage, groans and harrumphs.

Nonesuch here - I've made some fantastic friends through this forum [ on 5 Continents ! 8)] - and learned a lot along the way.

After a couple of bum years [ mostly ill health ] this forum has kept my spirits up and kept my desire to see projects completed. ;)

I've said it before - my hat is doffed to Tim and the others who made this possible AND still put in extraordinary amounts of the personal time to keep it going - Power to ya.

Yes, I have to agree that I enjoy tuning into to the various builds, asking questions and giving an opinion, all of which are given and taken with good will ;) thanks to all who make this a great community.

There Great.....

A noob on DTT here, but its quick to feel welcome and very happy I found this place. Some very talented members here and alot that can be learned!

Agreed 110%.
I'd said as much in my new member intro and it's echoed in this thread by others, too: There's a whole different attitude on DTT
@DesmoBro - "Mac & Cheese budget". That's awesome. ;D

Yeah. This is one of the most laid back forums a person can be on. I've only heard of two guys who were continuous jerks on this forum, one I haven't from in a long time. And well, the other one's obviously nuts. Everyone else seems to be really helpful and supportive. Even if it is a little on the tough side sometimes..

I'll admit, I refer to a lot of people here as "a friend of mine" - even if I've never met them (and likely never will).

Buddy in Oregon? You bet.
Friends in Montana? Damn straight.
Australia? Yep.
West Virginia, Alabama, North Carolina, UK, Maryland? Of course.

I for one know that I come off short tempered sometimes. But it's for 2 reasons: I'm always on my phone so posting is a little more........."rushed". And I've been swamped in my personal life lately. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
