Sounds like something I would like to do at least once. I used to hang off of high rise buildings and wash windows, in nothing more than a boatswains chair and a couple of 1/2" climbing ropes. We used ladder descenders and a barrel design from Australia, which caught my neck in the locking mechanism once. Tallest building I've done was 34 stories here in Jacksonville, and lots of them in the 10-20 floor range. And yes, it's true; some people forget that we're doing their apartment building that day and forget to close the blinds. I've seen my fair share of private moments on accident. Did get a couple phone numbers out of it though. Here's a quick pic of me about 11 stories up, just after I went over the ledge and into the chair:

It's been a bit since I've posted a few pictures both here and in my work log so I guess I had better show you all why I haven't been up to task. We got 4 new leases on towers so I got tasked, (told) to build them out. This first one is a 250' lease up a 450' tower where we are experimenting with new technology. You guys can look it up if you want but with all the digital transitions in TV it has left what we call "white spaces" in the spectrum. Blaa blaa Franzl, bike guys, speak the queen's English. What that means is it is clearing up areas that I can use to broadcast signal to the customer that wasn't there before. This stuff is a LEASE base in that we have to buy a license to use it in an area, but that means no one else can do it in that area. SO I get clean communications without interference from someone or something else. Pretty cool I think.

ANDY HOW.. Moar pics :)

Next door neighbor yes that tower is like 80 feet from the one I am getting ready to climb

Down INSIDE That's the pulley I use to haul cable up tower, I double it over and get two pulls out of one box.

Down OUTSIDE That mess of steel you see right under my feet is a guy wire cradle, makes for a nice standing platform

Up the rest of the inside, that's the bottom of a light at 250'

Time for some around views, It was threatening to rain that whole day, wind blew sustained 10-15 on the ground and 25-30 up tower. It's a little unnerving at times but this tower is pretty solid, didn't move hardly at all.

Kinda of a bit of fun to climb but I did have a blast it is a very rock steady tower and an inside climb so it is much safer than most. It took me a total of three days and three climbs to pretty much build by myself. Another day at work...anyone wanna come hang out? ;D

Nice pictures!

Sounds like your week was better than mine. I had to babysit the transmitter Monday night because of the NCAA finals. Got home around midnight. Then the storms rolled in around 3:30AM. Got a call that we were off the air. ARRRGH! :( I was soaking wet just getting the gate open and getting in the truck to get there!

Turns out our multiplexer took a hit and was fried. Took me about two hours to cobble and rig something up to get us back on the air. It's a bit hard to think clearly with just three hours sleep!

Here it is Thursday night, and I'm still a bit fuzzy from the weird hours I've worked this week. AND... I'm on-call this weekend. ::)

Oh, I've had a hell of a couple of three weeks, that tower was the beginning. I have another one to post and 5 outages this week alone, all said and done I have at least 2500 feet total under my feet since starting that tower. I do feel ya man that rain kills.
