Thoughts and questions on future project...

MBellRacing

Wheel Jockey for Hire
Okay, so here's the plan:

Start with S90 (or CL90 for that matter), install Lifan 150cc motor (bolts right in). Turbocharge with TD02 or TD025 (it works, I promise), tune with MicroSquirt, widen the front and rear to fit the Superhawk's wheel/tire/brake package (since I have a great supply of them and twin leading shoe is about as good as it gets), build and install CR-style tank and seat (since I have access to molds taken from originals).

So my concern is of the bigger, wider wheels and brakes. How would one go about widening the fork and swing arm? Could I mount up the Superhawk's steering head and triple clamp with obvious adaptation? Can one just hack and re-weld a swing arm to widen it? I ask here because there are some incredible builds and I'm sure this project can be steered in the right direction, WAY before I even start it. I like to plan things out, and I'm pretty excited about this one!

I've seen some optimistic claims of people on a 140/150cc Lifan turbo making 30hp on a carb with poor lower-speed tuning. 30hp on a 190lb bike would be fairly exciting I think, especially when it looks so goofy like an S90!

Some inspiration... my neighbor pre-1973 (since my house is supposed to be on that lawn...) and his S90 racer, CB160 racers, and Superhawk racers. Enjoy.

Thanks in advance for your help!

just a heads up - lifan 150 will not "bolt right in". Chian engibes use bolt pattern familiar from 50/70cc hondas. 90cc motors have different botl pattern. It can be made fit... But needs work. Of course wiring has to be redone.

also the picture is very sweet!

But the s90 engined bike in the front has some other frame. S90 stamped frame is neat looking but not very stiff.

I don't see why you would need wider rims. Wide rims would create problems for chain line too.
