Re: Tim's XS project - March 25 2010 - IT'S DONE!!!
Well, I just took a bunch of stuff off the 650
JK - not taking it apart yet.:
Took the tank off so I could re-torque the head
Snapped one of the oil line bolts on the head (but got it out so no damage done
- just gotta go to the DTT garage to pick up a spare)
Re-jetted the carbs with new jets I picked up yesterday
Put new plugs in - the XS650 needs projecting plugs - BPR7ES, not just BR7ES. I was running with BR's, so this should improve running.
So I just gotta get the oil bolt from one of my spare engines downtown this afternoon and put the tank back on, and see how the carbs behave.
Looking at the 650 frame, I'm still on the fence. These bobs all have rear shocks (I don't want to go to a hard tail) but also have the seat rails modified a bit. I think it might work - longer swingarm, short shrouded shocks, girder front end, straight pipes....
