Tips on chasing a short to ground?

Anyone have any suggestions?
Ive done all I can think of. Ive idled the motor in the garage trying to make it short by shaking the bike, jumping up and down on it :) , knocking and shaking every component, moving all wiring around by hand....nothing makes it short out except that it randomly happens while riding. Sometimes I can ride 10 miles before it happens, sometimes 10 feet. Replace the fuse and it might go awhile or not. Doesnt happen reved up or down low specifically, just when it feels like it.

Its crazy really. Ive spent hours looking at the wiring for problems or doing the things Ive mentioned above.
Easily over 15 hours trying to track it down. lol embarrassing, yes.

ANY suggestions would really help even if they are to torch this thing. lol

This is the diabolical little bastard.

Have you checked the controls to make shore the connections are not making contact with the handle bars. Just a thought.

Ive considered that.
The bars are thick painted black so I felt it probably wasnt the source.

Regardless, I have no choice but to try every possibility at this point. :p So will check out the controls.
But yeah, I am beginning to think the short could be inside something. Like maybe the starter or other part.
My starter has began to act weird yesterday.

Thanks for your input

I had the same problem, kept popping fuses and my starter acted weird. After taring my bike apart I checked my right starter control and saw a bad solder job. I didn't think it was making contact with the bar but repaired it anyway and have not had a problem since. If you find no problem with the control then I would check the whole starting system beginning to end. There have been problem with starters shorting out.

Thanks. I had suspected my stater button too.
I taped up the solder job as it was critically close to the housing.
Thought that might have been it but popped another fuse today. :'(

I may just unplug my starter for a day and see if that keeps the fuse from popping.

Thanks for the input. ;)
