Today I learned...

TIL that even with a nylon wheel on a corded hi-speed drill, stripping paint from a gas tank takes for flippin' ever.

However, TIAL that a free giant-ass stainless bbq and propane tank can be a beautiful thing, once cleaned and reassembled. Beer, steak and wings, my favoritest things! The gf's gonna do the happy dance fer sure ;D

Oh yeah, and the outta gas, full gear push, Rich Ard's reply thing? lmao
Sorry for your pain, Dude.

Pneumatic die grinder with a wire wheel is epic though. :D

I prefer paint stripper.
Spray it on
walk away
scrape it off
spray it on

clean tank

If you don;t want a replacement, I am sure they will give a refund......

Either way should make you satisfied....

All in all I think DCC is a great resource, and has pretty good pricing. I'll get in touch with them. Thanks Sonic, Richard and MLK.

Today I learned that hillbillies can make up some funny words occasionally. Today's word was garbaged.

How it was used:
What did you do with those parts? Were they garbaged?

Cracked up everyone at work for a good hour and we learned a new word. All he could say back was F U!

Today I learned that a MB5 is no match for a strong wind. Rode to work and when I went into our lunchroom here at work that overlooks the parking lot my bike was on its side  Really windy here today and I guess the MB5 is just not stable enough to stand up to it. Ran out to see what damage, gas was leaking out of the cap, the bar end mirror was banged up and loose and the exhaust had a scrape on it. Other than that its not too bad, seems handlebar took the brunt since it was pushed through the clamps around an inch. Never had my camera to take a pic, not nice seeing your bike on its side like that though, very strange site. Start up no problem though.

Need to look into getting a side stand.

I just tried the non-aerosol aircraft stripper. Must be applied with a a brush, so not quite as easy as spraying it on. However one can of brush on probably contains the same amount as 5 aerosol cans and cost a couple bucks less.

TIL, a friend of mine was killed yesterday evening in his bike. He was quite the character, and will be sorely missed :(

The info I've gotten so far is, He was on a two lane Hwy when the car ahead of him slowed. He gassed to pass on the left, and the car (without using it's signals) turned in front of him. He was pronounced at the scene.

The lesson you should take from this is... Life is Fragile, Ride Smart, and Being in the "Right" doesn't make you any less Dead.

Sorry to hear that man. Sometimes the sacrifices we make to be on two wheels are more than we can bear. Give my best to you and yours that knew him. I'll raise a toast to our fallen rider next time I get a chance.

Same thing happened to me, but I was in my cage. I got lucky.

Sorry to hear about the loss. :(

TIL
That you can't look off into the field next to the road, or you might ride off into the ditch on your freshly finished motorcycle. Minor damage of a dented tank, and the shift lever bent back under the peg. Pretty sure my neck is going to be sore and stiff tomorrow. Probably really lucky it was in grass not the road.
I got the shifter straighten back up but it cracked and fell off half way home. Rode the rest of the way home in only 1st gear.

So, yeah I crashed within the first 120 miles of riding. Made me feel completely foolish. Target fixation was in full effect.

Every time I finish a bike I wreck it shortly thereafter. It's like breaking it in hah

Glad to hear you're all right - it's not an unusual way to fall off a motorcycle. Next time remember you can almost Always lean harder. :)

A few night ago I learned what twerking is... there's 4 minutes of life ill never get back...

4 minutes.......
or 4 hours on the internet?

TIL I learned, before you break into your own car, ripping up the weatherstrip, you should check the bottom of the recycle bin for your keys.
