Rude Boy
"Strong Like Lion, We Are Iron"
Alright, well all you suckas with your fancy motorcycle build threads can stick it cuz as of now I'm having a hard enough time getting something just to eat, while your out buying mikuni carbs and BSA tanks.
In this thread (my first build thread) Im gonna break the mold in all directions, and use a Tomos Sprint
I picked this up from an old folk I was doing some work for; missing a kickstand, horn-headlight-breaklight doesn't work. both pedals point downwars?? Bike isn't titled w/ no papers whatsoever, not even a license plate!
But the bitch runs and thats all that counts. Im not going to give a damn about the legality of this bike, Im on good terms w/ both cops (I worked as an EMS and play music w/ one of them, small island hell yeah) and Im sure they'll let something like this slide as long as I don't hit anything valuable.
This is going to be a cheap botched job, but all the same I got big plans for the bike. Its getting a new back tire, a chain, and paint then thats it for spending. We got a great "take-it-or-leave-it" store where you can do just that, so that'll be my parts provider.
Look up Rude Boy in wiki if you don't know what it means. Fits the ped and people I hang out with. Poor kids trapped on an island who listen to early ska/rocksteady and fuck shit up? Hmmmmm...
Photos of the Tomos so far and a paint job mockup:
How I got him.
Color scheme and seat rough. Notice also headlight, bars, & lack of brake-light(might put one under the seat, but thats cash)
Leather is going to be a skateboard pan, some seat foam and an old leather jacket.
Also looks like whoever the owner is of the tomos above modified the rims, Im going to look into how much strength that takes away. Certainly looks better.
15min of work in: seat gone, replaced w/ deck. Handlebars off a mountain bike. They don't fit right yet, nice mini drag bars though. I'll make um work or find a replacement.
This is the basic stance im going for w/ the bike. My plan is to weld some sort of foot peg onto the lower shock bolt (where the foot is) What are your thoughts on putting pegs on a swing arm? My plan w/ the messed up pedals is to chop off the left one and tie up the right one w/ a rope so it'll operate just as a kick-starter and stays out of the way. Also notice I removed the fugly faring over the headlight, gonna clear up and waterproof the wiring. wont have a speedo or odometer anymore, but who needs them on a moped (+they didn't work anyway ha!). much better.
Thats all for now. I'll post up more when I get more. Limme know what you think about rear-sets on a swing arm.
Gonna build this ugly sucka.
