We loved this little car. had some great times with it and sunk more than a few bucks in it but theres no way to put three kids seats in the back. We'd just decided to sell it, so i was on my way back from the hardware store with the For Sale sign, and i spotted this beut! We traded stait up title for title. It was a bone stock survivor car. One owner for over fidy years, garage kept and a glove box full of regi cards and oil chande recipts, as well as the origanal dealer order form from Greer Ford. So of course i got it home and lowered it! Ha! I've got more plans for it that'd break a resto guys heart. What can I say, I likes what I likes.
Mines still got the original 292 Y-block. I'm deffintly not a sentimental type, but I'll probably rebuild the old motor (when it comes time) instead of dropping a 302 in it, like I did with the Comet.
Great trade! The Galaxie is the best car I've ever been in. Smoothest ride. The rear gas shocks are great. Thing sails through the countryside. My dad had two '64 Galaxies. I want one of my own. Def, want a 4 door grocery getter. Here is my dad's Galaxie. Everything is 1964 correct: whip antenna, hubcaps, gumball light, siren, police radio. Recognize it? It's his baby. He doesn't even let me drive it!
^^^ Nice car. Wait, that was your dad.................................Opee?!?!
Actually, I'm a huge fan. Infact I've based my religon on the show. I'm an Andyist. I figure a guy could get into any heaven any where if he just tried to live based on the teachings of Andy
Did you hear, ThelmaLou got mugged at a Walmart a few weeks ago. In Mt. Airy NC. The 'effin town Mayberry was based on. Shitty world sometimes.
You're right about the smooth ride. We took the whole famly on a 300 mile cruise last weekend to a rod show in east TN then we took the kids to the aquirum in Gatlinburg. Didn't feel a bump the whole way. Its like driving a couch!
