Transmission ratio 175cc

Hi guru`s out there.

Anyone know if transmission ratio is the same for SL,CL and CB? Think I have heard that SL has an mutch lower gearing. Is that done with smaller sprocket in front and bigger at the wheel, or is it done in the gearbox?

Thinking evt. mixing for an longer 1. gear and an close ratio 5. for track use.

Mayby 160 or 200 parts?

I am aware of Nova, but that is quite expensive!

160 was 4 speed, so forget that in a serious race bike. All 175's I think had the same internal rations. You can always change sprockets to gear it to suit a particular race track. Gear for peak revs at the end of the fastest straight and then go up or down from there if necessary to get it right for most gears on most of the track. Often you will find that correct overall gearing is bad in say thrid gear on many corners, so it can be a compromise.

Nova in the UK do a semi close ration gear set for those motors.

Forget about the CB200. they changed internal ratios - I don't remember which gears but crank and primary drive are not much use to anyone. Use a CB200 oil pump or buy and oil pump pistons and have your pump machined to suit. It's bigger piston and pushes more oil through.
