Tried to make some new friends at caferacer.net, what a joke!

I go on there once in a while but with the exception of a couple of guys there I take most of what's posted with a grain of salt. There are a couple of arrogant shits there. There are no land speed racers on there so I have very little to contribute there. My best laugh on there was when I was told that "America invented the pizza". I spent the next day waiting to be told that Honda invented motorcycles..
Thanks for the back up Hoof. ???

Maybe it's glasses you are missing. Show me another Harley Sportster that looks anywhere near what that one does or has the modifications. There's only about 10% of that bike that is H.D.
Sub 400lb, as in 332lbs to be exact, 1327cc's.
And for anyone that cares, Zedx actually said he liked it.

Didn't read his post just saw the pic and to be truthful I know ZERO about HDs beside basic knowledge ! Never said I didn't like it all I said was it didn't look like much other then body work ::)

And yes I do need glasses LOL

"Your just another dick with a Harley" is the one thing I read over there marc

Marc. You are one of the few that I pay attention to what you post. You've built a bike so you know what you are talking about. There are too many on there (and other forums) that are phantom builders and quick to attack. Which reminds me. Did you get your starter sorted?

Just went through the whole thread,(shows how much I have going on today). There was a bunch of douchebag going on with both sides. Although on a per capita basis you were the biggest dick head Zedx.

Dickhead is one word get it right. I wasnt going in there for them to love my bike and lell me how BA they thought it was but just to tear it apart form the welds to the exhaust wrap was ridiculous. A bunch of what was said I have learned from and sparked some interest and research has been going on since. Just didn't think the way the way it was done was the way I would have done.

You have a strange way of trying to make friends. If your going to be a Grammar Nazi, then the use of commas would help. I wanted to ask you about the rims on your bike, but fuck it.

Hahaha! the bike started out as a cb750a, aluminum. 17 rear 19 front stock for the hondamatics Thught about changing the rear to an 18 but learned that they were steel and the ones I have we're much preferred so I stuck with them. If you're looking for them both the hondamatics and gl1000 have them as stock.

Rims are stock hondamatic rims.

I like post #17 of that thread by "Dean".

A point system to determine if your bike is "Hipster" or "Cafe"
That is what is wrong with the "scene". People have an imaginary judging clip board and mark point on a bike before deciding if they like the owner or not.

I would rather decide if I like the owner then point out what I think is can be done to improve the bike in a performance and safety sense.

All I can see from that other thread is "You bike is shit because of this and this" , the attitude over here is much better. Sure we will still tell you what we think of your bike but at least we are going to tell you how to fix the problems. Sometimes even if you don't ask....

And to be perfectly honest, there isn't any thing wrong with your bike that isn't easily fixed. At least you put pods on carbs that can be tuned, as opposed to some people. Dickhead.

See Hospitality right there!

Anyway here is what I see as "Wrong" with your bike. I am no expert and my knowledge comes from DTT and personal experiences.

The pod filters you have used are cheap Emgo filters. They have a lip on the inside of the boot that can cover some of the air passages on carbies. The cause big problems on CV type carbs. They should be "ok" on your VM carbs but will have less airflow and filtration then a decent set of K&N filters.

You have removed the front fender but have to put anything in place to keep the fork lowers in alignment. Adding a fork brace will help to keep the front end aligned, which in turn helps with handling.

Your front fork tubes are pushed up way to far. This will change the CoG and greatly effect handling and stopping. Also your front wheel could very well slam into the lower triple when hitting an unexpected bump.

Open exhausts might sound nice for the first 100 miles but they rob power by causing exhaust pulse reverb. This only happens at certain RPM and will feel like the bike bogging down. Any kind of baffle will help to prevent this.

Ohh and your set looks uncomfy as hell. A church pew would be better haha.

Welcome to DTT mate.

quick ads to the list
rear brake is hooked up wrong, has severe bump brake effect cannot be set up to work properly :(
pipe hangs way too low extremely compromising cornering clearance :(
and the most common, stupid flucker, fail of all:rear tire will slam into "HOOP" before full bump ::) :-\

eh, open exhausts are okay, it's the header design that counts, but it'll be hard as hell to properly tune the bike for any rideability with pods and an open exhaust there. I'm not sure the rear tire will hit the hoop, it'll be close for sure, but the angle might just clear. the front forks being lowered doesn't do much for the cg, and in fact, the cg of a motorcycle has less to do with handling than wheelbase and trail. do you know what trail is, how it works and how to calculate it? you should, or you should ask how, it's important. fwiw the fact that the pods are cheap emgo vs. k&n from my experience, won't matter all that much, I've not yet run into a cb750 faster with pods than a well tuned one with a stock airbox, prove me wrong, I don't care if you do, it's just that I've never seen one and I've ridden with quite a few

what a bunch of A-holes over there.

And the look of your bike is also an important factor in the whole experience of riding something you build yourself. I just don't believe you when you say you don't care what your bike looks like.

I know my bike may not be running better as stock, I also run the cheap pod filters but i've spend time and money to make it run as good as possible with that set up.

As long as you enjoy what you are doing and not making some deathtrap out of it which can harm you and others on the road everything you do is fine with me!

Thanks for the info guys really appreciate it.

What is tail? And how do I calculate it?

I actually read about the pods covering the air passages, had no idea they did that I will be addressing that the cheap way till I can find/afford a suitable replacement for them.

The rear brake is terrible and you are right not hooked up correctly coming of a hondamatics it doesn't have the same mechanism as the regular bikes and left me very limited. I think I will be fabing up a cable that works the brake instead. You can actually watch the metal bar bend as force is applied to the lever. Definitely needs some attention.

Just flip the actuator lever over and adjust the linkage. Should be good to go... Well better at least. Here is a pic so you can see the difference.
