Universal rearsets q's

My Tarozzi rearsets arrived yesterday morning and I will be fabricating brackets to mount them as far back as possible on the frame of my 74 cb500/4 and I had a couple of questions- will I need to fit a brake return spring like the original set up has?? ( it has a rear drum brake). How have other people overcome the rear brake light switch(sensor) with these rearsets? There's nowhere on them where I can mount the original as they will be mounted so far back. Will the linkage clear the kick-starter? This is my first build so any help that will make life easier will be greatly appreciated.

Try not to mount the sets too far back. They should be roughly located under your crotch. Too far back, and you'll be putting added stress on your hands and wrists. Trust me, I just went through all this in order to get my set in just the right place. By the way, I still have the factory return spring in place. Not 100% certain, but it seems like it'll work fine. We'll know when I get her on the road.

I have to mount them lower and further back as I am 6'5 and need the space. I know I'm probably gonna get flamed by people telling me to get a bigger bike but I live in the uk where projects like this don't come around too often and the price for a similar bike in the USA is a fraction of the price, plus I like the looks of the cb500 and know I can make a nice bike out of it. I have seen lots of projects on this website with the pegs set back further than the standard mounting points so was just wondering how others had set theirs up.

I understand. Well, I'm guessing since your that tall, you wanna kind of have them a tad lower than usual, too. Might have to make some custom bracketry. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted on how you are fairing.
