Urgent Title Transfer in PA Please HELP

Hi DTT,

I have a major problem from selling my bike.
Around Feb, I bought a cb400tii with a title. At that time didn't know anything what the procedure was.
I brought it back and didn't have much time to restore or make it into a cafe so I decided to sell. I got several people interested in the bike and asked about the title transfer.

When I was buying the bike, the owner had a title that was signed by the previous owner that he bought it off from. The owner I bought it off from also didn't have a chance to title it to his name since he bought it just for practicing his wife. He bought it approx. 10 years ago. He is not sure if the original owner is still living in town or he moved out or unfortunately passed away.

I need to get this bike out from my garage since I need the money to by new tools.

I called the notary and said that the title needs to be signed and be notorized by the owner to transfer it to me. And I only have infos about the owner I bought it off from.

What should I do about this situation?

Please help me out I need somekind of clear answer to sell it to the guy who is looking at the bike

Thanks
Adam

Easiest thing to do would be to find an understanding friend or relative that's a notary and have them stamp it for you.

Sounds like the easiest way but unfortunately don't have any friends who work in that area.

Any other suggestions?

Does anyone have an understanding notary friend who can help me out?

Please help the poor college kid.

If it's a PA to PA transfer...unless you get the titled owner to physically go with you to a tag service, you're SOL. PA is screwed up like that.

The only other option is a legal petition to reassign the title, which involves a lot of waiting, paperwork, and a trip to a courthouse for a judge to give the previous owner the chance to contest your request to reassign the title. (Major pain in the a$$). If you know anyone (relative) that lives in any other state it's easier, but a long process, to "sell" it to them for $0 then have them do the same to the new buyer after they receive the title, or to you.

If it's an out-of-state title to PA resident, just sign it and sell it. They do not have to be present to reassign a title to a PA resident.

If it's a Pa to out-of-state transfer, sign it and sell it. Most other states aren't as anal.
