does anyone have any experience with this vintage Dyno? Hartzell Corp Mark 2 Dyno.

Strange as it might seem, I was chatting to a mate of mine in Australia last week and he told me he had one in his shop that he bought second hand and plans to set up "sometime soon". Next time I'm down there I may have to drop by and help him to fire it up.

That was the first dyno I ran my CB77 racer on many years ago - back when "no one" had a dyno. That was how I was able to see timing moving around as the cam chain flip flopped like a politician.

That is cool! We are now the proud owners of one also!
Because of doing research on Dynos I realized this was right under my nose being used as a bike stand...in the same place as the cb750 airbox, same place we found Lucky, and Victoria!

Did some research and found a shop in Virginia called Twin Jugs that had used one for years. They sold that one in the picture a few years ago.

Ours will need some cleaning up and restoration but for less than what we could pay for a Chinese motorcycle stand on sale at HF we have a piece of American made ingenuity.

Cool catch there Mr Tex. You are a star. They are not as easy to use as modern dynojet and were designed before the PC had been invented. You will have to write down measurements and plot them.

Fun times in TX. I may have to drag a couple of our 160/175/200s down there for comparison purposes...

That last one was just an idle threat. It's too far to drive. :)

Teazer we have made you an honorary Texan by hanging your pix on our shed wall and your stable of fillies is always welcome...we know it is a long hall but we hope to shake your hand someday to thank you in person.

Teazer here is some info for you friend on the Hartzell Mark 2 dyno

The patent info...I wonder if that is why a wine/beer barrel was designed that way...to right it's load???

These guys had the mark 2 and are OCD land speed racers 240 mph on a Harley. They may have the manuals and forms.

Here are videos, pictures, calculation forms

I have followed this father and son team for quite some time now. During this snow day I have had a chance to reflect on whole threads. It's an amazing journey. We started with a seized motor and a quest for answers. I have learned so much from all those that replied. I'm amazed even till this day with the amount of knowledge and questions.
Never stop asking

It says the dyno is water cooled. So does that mean you should always get the fluid up to a consistent temp on the fluid side before base lining figures start. And to think they did not have the high temp fluids we have now, just a seed for thought

yesterday we were at the progressive motorcycle show and it was 3 years ago yesterday that Zeke said, "dad I want to learn how to build motorcycles."

It is an amazing journey and the journey continues...Zeke's little Suzuki ds80 is too small for him so we headed off to see Tony and Tony hooked Zeke up with our first 2-stroke build.

71 El Montadero Mk2 360 Bultaco. Now we have a bike that has more torque than hp :)

With the right gearing it has been said this will do the ton! Thank you DTT!!!

We need a DTT Dirtbike section!

Welcome to the wonderful world of two-strokes!

With a better designed pipe that bike will really fly.

Crazy

That's an Enduro and being piston port comes 'on the pipe' rather sudden compared to the trials version. Should be making around 35bhp or so compared to the 14bhp of the trials version. Make sure Zeke doesn't try and ride it like the 80 or 175/200's, it will bite back

Thanks CrazyPJ we set up a string in the enduro section. What I read was that this was the tamed Bandido with a heavier flywheel and more torque with no expansion chamber for the exhaust. 38 ftlbs of torque. Triple than Lucky and Victoria.

Heavier flywheel makes it rev 'slower' but it should still be a lot quicker building rpm than either four-stroke bike.
Just be careful, no reed valves means it may 'bite you' ;)

nope not that one, its a plonker proly wont rev much past 5k,the factory tune is going to be very much like a sherpa t trials bike than a racer and it will be very smooth, slow revving and there wont be any bite to it ;) its going to be a great machine to ride the hill country if you are going to play tuner/speed racer with 2 strokes, leave this one be,find something else, you can't do it it with this one is too far away, besides it is quite valuable ,the bandido is the most sought after AND RARE dirtbike type bultaco in the lineup
