Vintage bike insurance with Desjardins

Most of us pay liability only. Should be around $.80 per cc or so. Call JR Duffy Insurance.

Necro'ing this thread , on the basis we all need help when it comes to insurance on our bikes in Ontario.

Finally got off my ass and called desjardin today, mostly because state farm had jacked me from 700 ish when i started a couple years ago to currently 870 for the year, no tickets/infractions/claims or other activity, normal coverage , on a 2011 cbr250r.

Lady on the phone , after taking all my details, 2million liability theft fire etc : 379$, for THE YEAR.
If I left off some of the optional coverage I added, I could even get it as low as 320@ for the year.

Also asked , if I get my RD on the road shortly, what it would cost, quote came in at $796 for the year, same coverage, both bikes.

Desjardin can fully insure both bikes for less than what state farm is charging me for one. WTF

My thanks to Dr J for starting this one, obviously I owe you some beers, or whisky, or a nice ladies phone number or something, Thanks DR !! ! !

Been with State Farm for a number of years now, I have my house, cars and bikes through them. I've had my full M license for 23-24 years now and a clean record. When I switched from my RD400 to my GS650E it jumped up a couple hundred bucks to about $675ish and I questioned why the big jump and they said more CC's. I said fuck it and didn't bother shopping around til this thread came up. My wife takes care of the bills so I never knew how much I was paying so I dug up my paperwork and it had jumped in the last few years to $1087!!! WTF!!!
So this year at the january bike show I grabbed every ins co's cards and called for quotes. Riders Plus came in the cheapest at aroud $640ish so I was like Fuck Ya and was waiting til my policy with State Farm was due just coming up at the end of this month. In the time between getting quote from Riders Plus and now, I get a flyer for Desjardin and decide to call for a quote. $256 for the year!!!! and $204 if I bring my car to them also which was about $250ish cheaper than I am currently paying on my car. In total, by switching everything over to them I will be saving close to $2000 a year and almost half of that is my bike.

I also told Rogers to take their overpriced cable, internet and cellphone, and stick it up their ass! There is always cheaper options for everything if you don't let yourself get lazy and stuck in the cycle

Yeah, I'm also about ready to give Rogers the boot.
Where did you go for cable, internet and phone?

No cable, we went internet for TV and a Netflix subscription. Our internet we were gonna go with Tek Savvy but found another company running off cable that was $20/month cheaper than Tek Savvy. We pay $59/month for 35mbps and unlimited bandwith vs $79 with Tek S. I bought a modem that would work for both as they are both No contract, so if i was unhappy I could switch. With the unlimited bandwith I can surf the internet or watch as much tv or movies I want without additional charges. With Rogers I was paying $59 for 25mbps and only 2-300 gb bandwith, but with the shitty modem we had to rent from them we only got 12-13mbps and when we phoned them up they said "oh, you need the new improved modem for an additional $4/month" I said I wouldn't pay another penny and that they could give me that modem for the same price as I am currently paying as they never notified me of any changes or that i was paying for a service that could not be provided. The flat out said NO! So I shopped around and a couple weeks later called Robbers back and cancelled everything. Internet, cell, home phone and cable! When the person on the phone asked why I was taking my$280/month away from them, I told them it was over $4! The guy was like "REALLY?!" "we totally can do that" to which I said too late, we have already found better alternatives. While on the phone I offered to keep my cell with them if they matched $60/month for unlimited Canada wide anytime calling, unlimited International texting and photo texting, and 2GB data that other companies were offering. Once again they said no!

internet- http://www.start.ca/services/highspeed (we on older plan of 35mbps, now it's 30)

For cell I kinda stayed with Rogers, but still kinda not. I went with Fido who are owned by Rogers as I wanted the same coverage and service, but now I get more for less. I also took my home phone there as it is $10/month, but because i have my cell thru them I save $5/month per Line, so only $5/month now. My cell, wife's cell and home phone = $15 saved a month

I'm not saving on all my service's, but the one's I am paying the same for, I am getting a ton more! With all savings and no cable, probably saving in the range of a $100/ month

Good luck sticking it to the man!

Well, another one jumps to Desjardins!! ;D

Saved a TON of dough on 2 bikes, a car and contents insurance!! By-by State Farm!! 8)
