Vintage Bike Pic, What do you see?

Frankenfe

Coast to Coast
I ran into a guy recently at a car show and conversation went to olds Hondas. It turns out he had a bike at home that he was thinking about getting rid of. Turned out he had a "Vintage" photo of it in an album with his car. (The Picture Below)

WHAT DO YOU SEE? Other than the obvious : P

I think he has forgotten more than he remembers, but he is the original owner and did or had done all of the mods.

He says:
1974 CB450
Tracy Body Kit
Hooker Header
CB750F Brakes
Bigger Carbs Other Massaging? He says it did 98 MPH 1/4
Yamaha ????? Fairing

It looks to me like:
EPM or Morris Mags ???
Brembo Rear Caliper ???
Rear Sets ???
Front Fender ???
Clip-ons

What do you see? I'm guessing this pic is early 80's, based on the hair & high Dukes

Re: Vintage Bike Phot, What do you see?

Lesters kind of date it and I can't remember who made that style of body work. Looks like the style he used on the Triumph triple. Damn! CRS sucks.

Craig Vetter. Thank God all the grey cells aren't gone!

Yup, Tracy and Lesters! 8)

Not sure about the fairing.

The front fender is probably the fibreglass one that came with the Tracy back in the day.

I think you should buy it!! 8) 8)

Yea I have never been a real big fan of the "Tracy" body kits, but I like the look of this 450 and I like the idea this is a vintage build, with probably alot of now "Vintage" parts.

I am trying to Identify as many parts that may have been used so I am can get a sense of what it could be worth. That way I am prepared if he does let it go.

Found a cool thread that a previous Chief Designer with Tracy joined in on.

Body kit - Definately Tracy, probably an early one produced by "Fiberglass Wotks".

Front Fender - Praobably Tracy Also (Good Call Drewski)

Fairing - He says it is off a Yamaha anyone have a guess of the Model of Yamaha?

Wheels - I am leaning more to Morris or EPM. It looks to me like there may be a single "Rib" in each spoke, (Hard to see in the picture) don't Lesters have 2 "Ribs"

Pics below:

Morris
EPM
Lester

Whos the chicky?

Chicky - Someone he knew and had pose with the bike, I am hoping the bike has held up better than my guess she has, 30 or so years later

Nice work on this. 8) Cool link on the Tracy! :)

They are a "love 'em/hate 'em" item. I happen to love 'em, so...

I still think "Lester". I don't see the centre rib, but my eyes might be suspect. ;) I think the Lester Wheels were more common those days. Odds are...

Good luck! :)

Yea I'm working with "Vintage" eyes too. Very faint...you almost have to squint....

I guess I am hoping it is EPM's & Brembo kit.

Just go buy the damn thing already!

I know, but..... I want to be educated (I want to know more about it than he remembers), I don't want to sound too eager, I already checked with him to see if he dug it out. He said probably Sunday.

For the fairing I was thinking early '80's Yamaha Seca and stumbled on this ad for an '82 Seca 750...

Looks close. But what's odd is I can't find that 1/4 fairing on any "self shot" pics of Seca 750's.

Good luck with the chase/aquisition ;)

Thanks Redbird does look like the fairing, I'll start googlin...he did say it was off a Yamaha.

Funny you mention "the chase"....I have found I enjoy the Hustle, the research, the buying & selling of parts and the horse tradin' of parts (all part of the chase) almost as much as the build and riding..

Wheels don't look like Morris, but they do look like either Lester or Abe. Henry Abe used to sell wheels for CB750. That's a great period picture though. It would be cool to get the bike all clean and shiny and replicate the photo with another young lady.

Amen to that..

If anyone runs into a tracy kit for a cb750 I sure would be interested for one of my projects. I had one I rode to HS in the 70's and would love to replicate it.
